While we were off in suburbia writing and rehearsing new material, one of our songs - "Wasted Time" - was receiving airplay on college radio off in Pennsylvania.

Kev's future brother-in-law arranged for Project Wilson to do a one-off gig at York University's "Halloween Ball".  The three of us trekked out to York, PA, for Project Wilson’s inaugural gig.

Although we played billions of gigs in our previous band, this was our first experience as a power trio, in a situation where we each had to be the frontman at different points during the evening.  Previously we were just sidemen.  How would it turn out?

The crowd went wild for Project Wilson - and we can honestly say that their response was more satisfying than all of the other shows I ever played put together.

Sadly, no recording exists of this show.  We can't say if we played well or not, but we certainly had a great time.

Shortly after our gig, we began to get airplay on local radio - and even an on air interview, which came about when a local DJ contacted us out of the blue to come on his show and chat about the band.

More gigs were planned, more songs were written and the band never sounded better in rehearsal.  .  The future certainly looked bright for Project Wilson.

Perhaps it was too soon after our previous band experience, but between the pressure of real life and the surprising momentum of Project Wilson, Mat decided to quit the band and go off to do something totally unrelated to music.  Years would go by before he even picked up the guitar again!
